New year Greetings from “MGM's Centre of Excellence for Gastroenterology and Advanced Minimal Access Surgery”.
As we all are aware with the advances in technology more and more minimally invasive techniques are introduced in the armamentarium of management of surgical diseases. It has become very crucial and necessary to acquire the technology and skills to provide the best possible treatment option to our patients. Endoscopy which was initially introduced as diagnostic modality for GI problems has progressed to advanced therapeutic procedures like ESD and POEM. We are sure with further advances in AI and Robotic surgery more advanced and complex procedures will be done with endoscopes. In most parts of India, all abdominal cases are seen by surgeons so it is important that they should not only learn basic diagnostic endoscopy but also master advanced therapeutic procedures to give the best possible minimally invasive treatment options to our patients which they are demanding.
The Association of Surgeons of India is also working hard to enhance surgical skills amongst its members and one of the mission statements of ASI is to propagate and train surgeons for endoscopic surgical skills.”
I am sure this conference will prove to be a milestone and will go long way in fullling the mission and vision of ASI. It is the rst dedicated endoscopy training activity for surgeons under the aegis of the Association of Surgeons of India.
